Bernice L "Bernie" Bowman

    Bernice L. “Bernie” (Bush) Bowman, 86, of Chillicothe passed 8:55 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at her residence following an extended illness.

   She was born December 22, 1938 in Ross County to the late Harvey and Matha (Aspel) Bush. On September 27, 2003 she married Gordon Bowman who preceded her in death on December 10, 2003.

   Surviving are daughters, Kathy Sheets and fiancé Sean Thompson, of Chillicothe, Beverly (John) Holloway, of Springfield; sons, Steve (Trudy) Barnhart, of Chillicothe, Rick (Diana) Barnhart, of Richmond Dale, Bill (Brenda) Barnhart, of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Judy Ford, of Chillicothe, Irene (Trey) Fine, of Cincinnati; brothers, Robert (Jenny) Bush, of Chillicothe, Larry Bush, of Chillicothe, and Jack (Donna) Bush, of Urbana. She was predeceased by her husband and father of her children, Clarence Barnhart; a son, Glen Barnhart; a fiancé, Dave Crabtree; sister-in-law, Sue Bush; brother-in-law, Clint Ford and a special friend Alma Jean Blevins.

   Bernie loved the Home Maker’s club, riding on the pontoon boat, family dinners, Brenda’s pumpkin pies and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

   The family would like to thank Dr. H, the Adena nursing staff, NCR Hospice, Keena, and family and friends for all their help and prayers

   A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ware Funeral Home.
