Betty M. Burton Obituary

     Betty M. Barnes Burton, 85, of Chillicothe, died 5:55 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

     She was born January 2, 1936, in Ross County, to the late Everett and Velma Kempton Barnes.  On December 20, 1951, she married Curtis Burton, in Greenup County, KY, who died July 6, 1973.   

     Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey A. (Kim Echard) Burton, of Chillicothe; grandsons, Chad Smith and Curtis Smith; a step granddaughter, Megan McGlothlin; a great grandson, Christian Barnhart; a son-in-law, Chester Smith; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Barnes, Shirley Hoselton, Jane Meeker and Diana Burton; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Burton and Bill Burton.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Charlene “Sherry” Smith; brothers, Merle, Warren and William Barnes; a sister, Juanita Sibrell; sisters-in-law, Dixie Terry, Lexie Olson, Ruth George, Geneva Gray and Kay McGuire; and a brother-in-law, Mike Burton.

     Betty retired from Chillicothe City Schools where she had worked as a cook. 

     A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Jack Norman officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
