December 30, 1935 ~ May 10, 2022 (age 86)

Beverly S. Curtis, 86, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2022 at her home.

She was born December 30, 1935 to the late Herbert and Caroline (Schrader) Lawhorn.  On July 1, 1954 she married the late Donald R. Curtis.

Surviving are children, Dianna Diehl of Chillicothe, Randy (Denise) Curtis of Waverly, Sandy (Dan) Betts of Kingston; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Ault, Julie (Jeremiah) Shoemaker, Derik (Apryl) Curtis, Caressa (Steve) Sesser, Hayley (Tony) Southworth, Molly Clairemont, Brice Coey, John Grey; great grandchildren Jenna Shoemaker, Maxwell Millard, Connor Curtis, Eleanor Southworth, Caroline and Savannah Sesser; sister, Jeanette Hill of Chillicothe and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Robert M. Curtis; son-in-law, Art Diehl; sister Helena (Dick) Brown; brothers, Herbert “Dick” (Leota) Lawhorn; John (Desi) Lawhorn; and brother-in-law Dennis Hill.

Beverly will be remembered most as a woman devoted to her family. As a mother she cared for her children and grandchildren most of all, and looked forward to every visit or phone call. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and joining them for their birthdays, kids sports, and holidays. She was known as “Gran” to more than just her own grandchildren, including the neighbors she shared her life with in the same Chillicothe neighborhood for over 50 years. Beverly could often be found on her porch, with her favorite beverage - a cup of coffee.

Beverly was an avid attender and host of yard sales, where she could find almost any item for a good deal. She was also a master coupon clipper. Beverly and her husband were never far from a police scanner and enjoyed racing to the hospital to watch helicopters land. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, crossword puzzles, and indulged in the occasional soap opera, game show, or novel. Beverly retired from the Chillicothe City Schools where she worked many years in the lunch room.
