Beverly Ann Johnson, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center unexpectedly.
She was born January 31, 1946, in Circleville, Ohio, to the late Willard L. and Marybelle Weaver Speakman. On July 14, 1994, she married Kenneth L. Johnson, Sr. who survives.
Also surviving are children, Kenneth “Mark” (Connie) Gillum, of Chillicothe, Karrie Gillum, of Chillicothe, Kevin (Cindy) Gillum, of Lucasville, and Kyle (Monica) Gillum, of Richmond Dale; step-children, Kendra Johnson, of Columbus, Stephanie Webb, of Portsmouth and Kenneth L. Johnson, Jr., of Chillicothe; several grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Paul (Jeanie) Speakman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Speakman.
Beverly was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed decorating her home for the different seasons of the year. She loved to vacation in Pigeon Forge in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Beverly also enjoyed showing her 1946 Chevrolet pickup truck, which was a project started by her brother, Mark. Before he could finish restoring the truck, he was killed in a motorcycle accident. Beverly inherited the vehicle from him and she and her husband finished the restoration of the truck. They have been showing it at local car shows ever since.
Beverly was a graduate of Logan Elm High School and recently retired from Dr. Nabil Migally’s office as a nurse where she had worked for 28 years. She was a member of the Jefferson Township Ladies Auxiliary Fire and Rescue for 15 years and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 37 years.
A Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Service and her Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Minister Paul Minney officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale, OH. Friends and family may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
