Bonnie Sue Evans, 78, of Richmond Dale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family, at 5:55 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born December 12, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Bernie and Mary L. Davis Rickman. On September 4, 1965, she was united in marriage to John S. Evans who survives.
Surviving are sons, John S. (Melissa) Evans, II, of Richmond Dale and Jason (Shannon) Evans, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Anna (Dalton) Chaffin, of Richmond Dale, Aaron (Macie) Evans, of Chillicothe and Adelaide “Addie” Evans, of Chillicothe; great granddaughters, Lynlee and Lainey; a great grandson, Stetson, on the way; a sister, Nora “Nodie” Staton, of Galion, OH; brothers, Marvin (Wezi) Dill, of Columbus and Melvin (Sherry) Dill, of Columbus; several nieces and nephews; and her church family at Richmond Dale Church of God where she was affectionately known at “Sarge”. She was predeceased by a sister, Darlene Stevens and a brother-in-law, Jeff Staton.
Bonnie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She devoted much of her life to the church. Bonnie enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School in the summers, caring for the children of the church and enjoyed working with the Ladies Ministries. The most important thing in her life was her relationship with her Lord and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a walking example of Christian Love.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Adena Hospice for the exceptional care given to Bonnie and love shown to our family during her illness.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Richmond Dale Church of God, with her son Pastor John Evans II, officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday or one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Richmond Dale Church of God’s Legacy Fund 345 Market Street Richmond Dale, OH 45673.
