Bruce H. Kirk, 75, of Chillicothe, passed 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born January 20, 1946, in Ross County, to the late Elize Leroy and Norma Jean Graves Kirk. On April14, 1968, he married the former Caroline Sue Meeker who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Eric (Bonnie) Kirk, of Circleville and John (Rose) Kirk, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Stacey (fiance, Jesse Bermudez) Dillon, of Rutherford County, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark Auxier) Kirk, of Orient, OH, Jeffrey Kirk, of McArthur, Joshua (fiancee, Danielle) Kirk, of Columbus, Bethany Dillon, Andrew Dillon, both of Rutherford County, TN, and Caleb (Heather) Johnson, of Camden, DE; great grandchildren, Xander and Brayden; a brother, Bernard (Janice) Kirk, of Whisler, OH; and a nephew, Todd Kirk, of Whisler, OH. He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly J. Cottrill and a grandson, Lincoln T. Johnson.
Bruce, a United States Army Vietnam War Combat Veteran, was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Star Attachment, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Sharpshooter Badge and Rifle Bar for his service during his enlistment. He retired from Glatfelter. Bruce was a member of U.S.W. Local 731 and God’s Community Outreach.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Woodrow Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral on Sunday.
