Caroline Patricia (Bergman) Ratcliff, loving known at Pat, passed away peacefully at 12:30 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024, at age 103, in Inniswood Village AL, Westerville, Ohio following an extended illness.
She was born November 7, 1921, in Florence, Oregon, to the late Henry Ludwig and Ramona Utiva (Kane) Bergman. Her family relocated to San Francisco when she was seven. She graduated in 1943 from the University of California Berkley with a degree in Medical Dietetics. Pat met and married J. Donald Ratcliff on July 22, 1943. They spent 52 years together until his death on April 4, 1996.
In addition to her husband, Pat was predeceased by younger brother and sister-in-law, Raylind S. and Barb Bergman, CA.
Pat is survived by her four children, Ramona L. (Dr. Ronald L.) Whisler, Columbus, OH, Thomas H. (Ann) Ratcliff, Philadelphia, PA, John L. (Lisa) Ratcliff, Chillicothe, OH and Bruce H. (Mary) Ratcliff, Red Hook, NY; seven grandchildren, Ronald L. (Sarah) Whisler, AZ, Drs. Donald L. (Stella) Whisler, CA, Drs. Nathaniel J. (Shana) Ratcliff, VA, Rayna R. Ratcliff, OH, Anthony Ratcliff, NY, Stephanie R. (Scott) Hladik, NY and Maddie Ratcliff, PA; and seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Jacob, Rex, Sophia, Cole and Callie.
Patricia was very active in the community and served as an Adena Hospice Volunteer for 30 years. She was a dedicated and a long-standing member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church having served on the Vestry and Altar Guild.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Greenlawn Cemetery (Eastern Avenue Entrance) in Chillicothe with The Reverend Rowena MacGregor officiating. A reception will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church immediately following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
