Calvery Eugene Claytor, 77, of Chillicothe, died 2:55 a.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born July 28, 1943, in Chillicothe, to the late Cleo C. and Cleo M. Bochard Claytor. On December 1, 1973, he married the former Alice Kennedy who died October 20, 2020.
Surviving are children, Tammy (Marty) Eblin, of Chillicothe, Russell (Carol) Welch, of South Salem and Rev. David (Debbie) Welch, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Nate (Lacey), Josh, Ryan (Elizabeth), Brianna, Justin (Victoria), Chelsey (Chris), Olivia, Dustin, Tyra, Zoey and Eric; 13 great grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Rev. Stanley Kennedy, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Charlie Claytor and Vernon Bochard and a sister, Freda Profit.
Eugene was a member of Free Holiness Mission where he had served as an elder for 39 years. He retired from Bob Evans Restaurant. Eugene was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan, but loved all sports in general. He spent many years supporting his kids and grandkids in sports, activities and anyway possible. Eugene will be greatly missed.
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with his son, Rev. David Welch, officiating. A public graveside service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery and will begin at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be no public calling hours.
