Charles A. “Tony” Tarter, 82, of Chillicothe, passed at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at his son’s residence following an extended illness.
He was born August 27, 1942, in Bridgeport, Ohio, to the late Francis and Margaret Brooks Tarter.
Surviving are a son, Michael A. “Tony” (Michelle “Miki”) Tarter, of Kingston; grandchildren, Brittani A. (Chris) McGraw, Brooklyn (Duncan) McQueen, Anthony Tarter and Chase Tarter; a brother, Chris Tarter, of Bridgeport; a sister, Rhee Regario, of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
Tony retired from Kenworth Truck Company where he had worked for 28 years. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Tony was a member of the American Legion Post 62, American Legion Post 757 and American Legion Post 142. Additionally, he was also a member of the Main Street McDonald’s and Crispie Creme Donut Shop’s “Liars Club” and the Igniters Car Club.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the NCR Hospice Team for the care given to Tony, especially nurse Sherri and nurses aid Collin, for their kindness, love, and compassion.
A military graveside service, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Massieville, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME. In keeping with his wishes, please dress casually.
