Charles "Craig" Shoemaker

Charles “Craig” Shoemaker, 70, of Chillicothe passed 12:17 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026 peacefully at his home with Chris by his side following a courageous 6 month battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

     He was born March 25, 1955 in Chillicothe to the late Charles “Sonny” and Edna Toohey Shoemaker.

     Craig is survived by his wife, Christine, of 27 years; niece, Natalie (Ian) Hickman and nephew, Kevin (Debbie) Anderson.  He was predeceased by sister, Susan Fuchs and uncle. Don Toohey.

     Craig was a 1973 graduate of Unioto High School and retired from Dayton Superior where he was an I.T. Specialist.  He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8, American Legion Post 62. B.P.O.E. #52 and F.O.E. Aeries 600.

     The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Rolfo and his care team at the Ohio State University Hospital and the wonderful care given by the staff of Adena Hospice.

     Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Bodine Throckmorton officiating.  Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

     A Celebration of Craig’s Life will be held 5 – 10 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Eagles 378 Douglas Ave., Chillicothe.
