Charles K. “Charlie” Hardwick, Jr., 80, of Chillicothe, passed at 12:33 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025 at in the Adena Regional Medical Center following extended illness.
He was born August 25, 1944, in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Charles K. Sr. and Frances E. Balthaser Hardwick. On May 17, 1968, he married the former Esther Thompson who survives.
Also surviving are children, Brian K. Hardwick, of Frankfort, OH and Ericka L. Hardwick, of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren, Andrew M. Hardwick and Anthony (AJ) Hardwick; great grandchildren, Xander Malcolm, Connor Mason, Aliyah Jane and Wesley Allen; sisters-in-law, Janice Hardwick, of Pleasantville, OH; Cheryl Hardwick, of Lancaster, OH and Cesaria Hardwick, of Marion, OH; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Leslie Hardwick James Hardwick and Jerry Hardwick.
Charlie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 2007, he retired from Kenworth Truck Company where he had worked for 32 years. Charlie had also worked at Anchor Hocking Glass Company. He enjoyed fishing, especially at Rocky Fork Lake, and was an avid wood worker.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Brother David Wayne officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Caretenders VNA, Ross County Home Health, Adena Home Health and Hospice, and the Palliative Care Team at Adena Hospital for the wonderful care given to Charlie and for the compassion shown to our family during his illness.
