Colleen M. McCoy Obituary

Colleen M. McCoy was like many people with Aspergers.  She saw the world in black and white, but she added many colors to all the people who loved her and who will miss her terribly.

She had a strict sense of right or wrong, good or bad, funny or not funny, important or frivolous, and she once said she knew the right emotion that people wanted her to express.  She just couldn’t always make herself feel them.

She often felt uncomfortable in society and awkward socially around most people, but for the few who took the time to be kind to her and got to know her, they were lucky enough to see her warm up to them, to have her make jokes and they would get to see her talents and intense intelligence.

And when people were unkind, which was more often than not, because of her differences, she might not act as if it affected her, but it did, deep inside.

Colleen loved hiking and being outdoors.

She was incredibly intelligent and taught herself four languages, Russian, German, French and Polish, as well as three instruments, Piano, Accordion and Violin.

Her biggest love was animals and plants.  She would spend most of the day outside in her greenhouse and when she wasn’t outside, she was inside with her cats.  One of her cats, Finn, hiked with her and had his own Instagram account.  She showed great empathy and compassion to her animals.

She was a gifted artist and photographer. Colleen was passionate about Climate Control and had EPA on speed dial.

She will be completely and utterly missed by the Aunt that raised and adopted her, Patricia McCoy; her father, David McCoy; her uncle, Richard M. McCoy; her aunt, Debra (McCoy) Ellifritt; her aunt and uncle, Karen (McCoy) and Terry Morr; 1st cousins, Holly (Aaron) Daily, Erin Morr, Paul Ellifritt, Nick (Whitney) Morr, Beth (Ian) Conery; and many other extended family members.

She was predeceased by her beloved Mammy and Pappy, Phyllis and Richard McCoy and her cats, Murphy, Spink, Truffle, Ivan and Nessie.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Terry Morr officiating.  In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated.  There will be no public calling hours.
