Daniel Deem Obituary

     Daniel S. Deem, 76, of Chillicothe, passed at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.

     He was born March 3, 1949, in Barnesville, Ohio, to the late Richard R. and Mildred Gene Hutchison Deem.  On December 9, 1977, he married the former Leressa V. Bosstic who survives. 

     Also surviving are daughter, Barbara (Luis) Rivera, of Nolanville, TX and her son, Michael (Julie) Rivera who have two children, Schyler Rivera and Aiden Rivera; daughter, Katie Jo “Honeybabe” (David) Blankenship, of Chillicothe and her daughter, Isabella “Buckeroonie” Blankenship; brother-in-law and best friend, David Dush; brothers-in-law, Dorvan (Susie) Bosstic and Todd Bosstic; a sister-in-law, Tonda (Tim) Bosstic; nephews, Michael (Sarah) Dush and Jessie Bosstic; a nephew, Katie Vida; many friends, including Mile Barrows and Bruce McGinnis; and his faithful companions, his dogs, Gracie, Lucy, Patsy and Pickle who was a.k.a., Old Man’s Dog.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Michael (Mary) Deem and Raymond Deem; and a sister, Rebecca Dush.

     Daniel served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.  He retired from Chilpaco / Mead Paper Co. where he had worked for 45 years.  He was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 988 and the Ohio Falconry Association where he was a Master Falconer.  Daniel will be remembered for his many inventions and crafty abilities.  

     A private military graveside service will be held for family in Grandview Cemetery.  There will be no public calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dan’s name to St. Judes Hospital thru their website www.stjude.org
