Obituary

     Darlene M. Long Murray, 93, of Ray, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at her daughter’s residence following an extended illness.

     She was born January 30, 1928, in Jackson, County, Ohio, daughter of the late Glen and Lillian Waldron Long.  Darlene married the love of her life, the late Gerald Jesse Murray on January 17, 1947 in Jackson, County, Ohio.

     Darlene retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in 1988.  She enjoyed a long and happy retirement enjoying her home, family and her love of gardening.  Darlene was an avid reader and enjoyed many hours reading the books she loved.

     She is survived by her son, Delvin J. Murray, and daughters, Deborah Manion and Donna (William) Cyrus.  Grandchildren, Heather (David) Bower, Farrah (John) Pinkerton, Tahaune Cyrus, Scott Murray and fiancee, Mikka George, Trey (Rebecca) Cyrus and Clayton Cyrus.  Great Grandchildren, Ryan (Loreley) Bower and Olivia Bower, Bailey and Mia Davis, Colton and Grant Pinkerton, Jessica and Lacey Malone, Mason, Lane and Gannon Cyrus and Penny and Pru Cyrus.  She is also survived by a dear sister, Maxine Long Mossman; and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Randy Alan Manion; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willard (Jessie) Long, Carl (Frances) Long, Edgar (Ada) Long and Wayne Long; beloved nieces, Barbara Long Reynolds and Joyce Kinney West and a nephew, Willard “Skip” Long.  

     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 in Fairview Community Church, Ray, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Fairview Community Church Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Church one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. 

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Adena Hospice’s Friends of Hospice 2077 Western Avenue Chillicothe, Ohio 45601
