Darrel Massie, 89, of Chillicothe, died 4:26 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in National Church Residences – Chillicothe following an extended illness.
He was born July 10, 1932, in Ross County, Ohio, to the late Everett and Elva Tewksbury Massie. On June 20, 1964, he married the former Katherine Riley who died June 6, 1988.
Having no children, Darrel is survived by a first cousin, Alan Tewksbury, of Dayton; a special friend, Cathy Clark, of Chillicothe; step children; and step grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gerald and Donald Massie.
Darrel was an avid antique car collector, was a member of the Southern Ohio Antique Car Club and spent many summer days attending car shows. After retiring as a plumbing, heating and hardware supply salesman, he chose to proudly serve the residence of Huntington Township for sixteen years as an elected Huntington Township Trustee.
In keeping with is wishes, a graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Fr. Jacob Stinnett officiating. At his requests, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, Darrel requests that memorial contributions be made to NCR Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice.
