David Louis Smalley

David Louis Smalley, age 76, of Chillicothe, passed away at his home on July 12th, 2025. He was born to Sherman Louis Smalley and Ethel Virginia (Mick) Rich in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was proceeded in death by his son, David Louis Smalley Jr, his father, Sherman Smalley, mother Ethel (Mick) Rich, and his older brother Larry Sherman Smalley. 

     David is survived by his sister Trudy (Rick) Stephens of Cable, OH, his three children, Christopher Smalley, Tina (Smalley) Craig, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Smalley, all of Bellefontaine, OH, Five grandchildren, Ashley Bosley of Roundhead, Tray Reprogle, Brittany Smalley, Myisha Craig, and Jaela Smalley, all of Bellefontaine, Six great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Caidence, Emma, Jaxton, Aspen, and a new great-grandson due in November, along with several nieces and nephews. 

     David was an Elvis fan and could sing so beautifully. He loved everything Native American and it showed in a lot of his paintings, crafts, and jewelry he made. He spent his time building things, which was one of his passions, and he loved operating his produce stand until his health kept him from doing so. He was a very honest and proud man. Always on his feet building furniture, yard ornaments, holiday and seasonal items, or bigger crafts like buggies, comical outhouses, three wheeled trikes, or rebuilding campers. He was always full of new ideas for things to build. 

     He loved his family very much and loved any time he got to spend with them. He loved nature and being out in the sunshine planting flowers and gardening. He also loved to bake and try new recipes and make his own wine. He was a man of many talents. He was also very funny and loved to send funny memes, pictures, and videos to his kids, family, and friends, to make us all laugh. He will be greatly missed by so very many. We will be honoring our Father’s memory at Greenlawn Cemetery at Frankfort, OH on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 12pm and there will be a Celebration of Life immediately after. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
