David L. Overly, 90, of Washington Court House, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born June 30, 1934, in Ross County, to the late Elva K. and Lelia Bowdle Overly. On October 17, 1970, he married the love of his life, the former Patricia Allen Brown, who survives. Together, they celebrated 54 wonderful years.
Also surviving are a brother, Loy Overly, of Washington CH; a sister, June Elliott, of Grove City; nieces, Kristen Overly, Tonya Maurer, Jana Cassidy, Jodi Schuman, Lori Jo Geary, and Jami Lovell; and his god child, Cassie (Justin) Long and their children, Carson (Cree) Long and Gracie Long. He was predeceased by his father, Elva K. Overly; mother, Lelia Overly Stewart; and brothers, Glenn Overly and Earl “Reed” Overly.
David graduated in 1952 from Good Hope / Wayne Township High School in Good Hope, Ohio. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. In 1996, David retired from Mead Container Corporation where he had worked for 30 years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025 in New Holland Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Crew officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
