Deborah Ann Overly Main passed away at the age of 70 on September 18, 2024, in Chillicothe, Ohio after a short illness. Born on December 28, 1953, she was the oldest child of five from her parents Ralph W.D. and Imogene Laughlin Overly. Deb lived a life marked by her dedication to her family, her career, and community.
Over the years, Deb established herself as a respected marketing and advertising professional, and she was also an entrepreneur who founded several boutique businesses. She was a graduate of Ohio University, Chillicothe branch. Her most recent venture, Up Close Advertising, was a testament to her innovative spirit and her commitment to excellence in the field.
Deb was a passionate individual who found joy in art and graphic design. She was the founder of the original Downtown Associates and participated in the revitalization of the historic Majestic Theater, and the iconic Pump House. She was actively involved in her community as a board member for local non-profit organizations, including United Way Ross County, South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Adena Mansion and Gardens. She was instrumental in the creation, direction, and unprecedented success of the first Dance for Kids’ Sake event.
She was always willing to donate her time and talent to many community organizations and causes. Her commitment to these causes reflected her deep care for her community and her desire to make a positive impact.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Deb cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her family includes her partner, Dennis Main; her mother, Imogene; her son, Zachary O'Brien (Allie Kaut); grandsons, Kanean O’Brien, and Lane Fleshman; her brother, Mark Overly and his spouse Melissa; sisters, Vicki Smith and her spouse Joe, and Toni Daylor and her spouse Joe; and nieces and nephews, Joey Smith, Natalie Smith Pitzer, Stacey Green, Alexandra Berno, Danielle Overly Cureton, Megan Daylor Roper, Ryan Daylor, and Shelby Daylor. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Overly; sister, Pam Overly Fleig; daughter, Abigail O'Brien; and nephews, Brian Green and Lance Manson.
Deb's legacy is carried forward not only through her professional achievements and community involvement but also through the loving memories cherished by those who knew her. Her life was a vivid tapestry of dedication, love, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Sam Mincy officiating. The family will receive at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
