Donald E. “Donnie” Chaney, 93, of Chillicothe went to be with his Lord at 3:47 a.m. peacefully at his home following an extended illness.
He was born September 27, 1932 in Ross County to the late John and Edna Grubb Chaney. On June 11, 1958 he married the former Ruby D. Good who survives.
Also surviving are children, Ginger (Dean) Bowling and Rusty (Sherri) Chaney, both of Chillicothe; grandsons, Zachary (Erin) Bowling, Aaron (Erica) Chaney, Caleb (Kristen) Chaney and Logan (Laci) Chaney; great grandchildren, Nova, Reed, Ian, Hudson, Holden and Georgia; a sister, Blanche Hughes, of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Willis, Harvey, Howard “Joe”, Bobby, Lonnie Chaney, Ralph Chaney and Johnny Chaney; and sisters, Rachel Cochenour, Dorothy Long, Ruby Kellough, Lucille Mitchell, Gladys Chaney, Goldie Chaney and Gracie Long.
Donnie retired from Huntington Local Schools where he had worked as a Bus Driver and Bus Mechanic. He coached little league baseball for many years.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Adena Hospice for the wonderful care give to Donnie and compassion shown to our family.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026 with Pastor Lou Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Huntington Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
