Elaine Baker Hand Mulford went home to her Savior on October 19th, 2024. Elaine was born October 2nd, 1939, in Ross County to her parents Ott G. Baker and Elizabeth Penrod Baker. She married Richard Hand on May 29th, 1960. From the marriage, God gave her two special daughters: Beth (David) Milam and Mary (Jaime) Dick.
She was a graduate of Centralia High School, class of 1957. Elaine received her B.A. in Education from Ohio University, class of 1963 and then received her master's degree from Mount Saint Joseph’s in 1987.
Her priorities in life were to passionately love God, love her family, and serve her Lord. She had an unwavering commitment to following Christ in good and difficult times. She invested every earthly and eternal thing she had into her family. Elaine loved all children. She served at youth camps at Canter’s Cave and Camp Bountiful. She taught at Huntington School for two years and Chillicothe City Schools for 31 years, Sunday School for 36 years, served at Vacation Bible School for several years, and pastored Community of Christ Church for many years. Elaine enjoyed cooking and baking the favorite desserts and meals of her family and friends. One of her favorite meals to prepare was BBQ. Her most treasured times were those spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On June 11, 1999, she was remarried to Galen Mulford and shared 17 years together with their blended families.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by former husband Richard Hand, husband Galen Mulford, and brother Ott (Sonny) Baker. She is survived by sister Dorothy (Johnny) Strouse; grandchildren Krysten (Joshua) Bauer, Sarah (Lennon) Mueller, Samuel Dick, Philip (Allison) Milam, and Megan (Adam) Jones; great grandchildren Liam Mueller and Juniper Elaine Jones; stepchildren Wendell and Molly Mulford; step grandchildren Elizabeth Mulford, Nick Feldmann, Grace Feldmann, Justin (Maigen) Thacker and Kegan (Siobhan) Thacker; step great grandchildren Saoirse, Maghnus, Ruairi, Isabella, Addaline, Montgomery, and Nora Thacker; Gina Bowdle who was like a daughter to her. Many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, October 25, 2024 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Edward Cable officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm on Thursday.
