Ellen Pugh Obituary

Ellen C. Pugh, 91 of Chillicothe passed away Wednesday morning April 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 18,1933 in Sweet Springs, West Virginia to the late James Howard and Jessie Smith Carman. On November 22, 1952 she married David W. Pugh who preceded her in death on February 23,2007.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Hettie, and Todd and Kimberly Pugh both of Chillicothe; grandchildren and their spouses Kaitlyn and Ross Meeker, Christian and Ashley Pugh, Jordan and Michael Clark, and Jacob and Savannah Pugh; great-grandchildren Joel, Noah, and Ezra Meeker, Jaxson Pugh, and Baby Meeker who will arrive later this year.

She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Jan Carman, Michael and Heloiza Carman, and Leola Carman, several nieces and nephews including special nephew Brian Carman. She is also survived by dear friend Sharon Clary and the Hussey Club girls.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings Charles, Jessie Lee, and Stephen.

Ellen graduated from Coalton High School in 1951. She moved to her current residence in 1958 and began attending Concord Church and served many roles over the years including treasurer and Sunday School teacher.

Ellen was a hard-worker, she had many jobs including OVEC, The Mead, and was the manager of the first branch office of the former Mead Employees Credit Union.

Ellen and Dave loved to travel especially to Holden Beach, North Carolina with their family. Ellen was loved by everyone who met her and will be remembered for her kindness and love by her family and friends.

The family wishes to thank Danielle Evans, Morgan Murray-Currier,  Hettie Leake, Sara & Larry Duvall, Sam Tomlin, and Adena Hospice for the care and support they provided.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Concord Church or Adena Hospice.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Concord Cemetery with Pastor Mike Rhoades officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
