Ellwyn O. "Mac" McCollister, Sr. Obituary

Ellwyn O. “Mac” McCollister, Jr., 76, of Chillicothe passed at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Chillicothe Post Acute following a brief illness.

He was born September 13, 1949, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Ellwyn O. Sr. and Evelyn Moore McCollister. On December 5, 1975, he married the former Teena Shova who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jamie McCollister, of Chillicothe; a grandson, Kinny Betts; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 sisters.

Mac served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center where he had worked in the Dietetics Department. Mac enjoyed playing music and had played with several bands over the years.

There will be no funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
