Elmer Henderson Obituary

   Elmer O. Henderson, 88, of Ray, died 6:09 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side following an extended illness.

   He was born August 3, 1934 in Vinton County to the late George and Iva (Allen) Henderson. On July 18, 1953 he married the former Norma Jean “Dolly” Glandon, who survives.

   Also surviving are children, Daniel (Beth) Henderson, Terry (Paula) Henderson, both of Ray, Debbie (Jerry) Albright, of South Bloomingville; grandchildren, Chad (Jill) Henderson, Heath ( Shirley) Henderson, Nathan (Casey) Henderson, Nicholas (Saunia) Henderson, Angela (Chad) Hafner, Jerrod Albright, and Jordan Albright; great grandchildren, Calli , Abby, Reed, Colton, Austin, Wyatt, and Lexi Henderson, and Michael and Matthew Hafner; 4 step great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; a sister Mary Kruger; a brother in law, Will Williams and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Steve and Paul Henderson; a daughter, Cheryl Henderson; a sister Linda “Joann” Williams; a brother and sister in law, Fred and Janet Henderson and a brother in law Raymond Kruger.

   Elmer was a lifetime member of the Antioch Christian Union Church (Kelly) where he was the Sunday School Superintendent, First Elder, Trustee and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He retired from the Mead Corporation after 43 ½ years as a millwright and enjoyed farming and driving his John Deere. He was a member of UPIU Local 731. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved all his family dearly.

   Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jim McFadden and Pastor Jason Kight officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
