Evan "John" Davis Obituary

     Evan “John” Davis, 67, of Chillicothe, passed 10:34 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

     He was born July 23, 1955, in Gallipolis, to the late Carl and Frances Thompson Davis.  On February 2, 2002, he married the former Andrea L. Long who survives. 

     Also surviving are a daughter Jessica Davis; step children, Stephanie Weaver and Zachary (Stephanie) Moss; grandchildren, Natalie Hale, Jason Mault, Cheyenne Mault, Maurice Weaver, Alexis Weaver, Kal-el Moss and Chloe Moss; a great grandson, Maddox Steele; sisters, Carol Webb and Deborah Swingle; brothers-in-law, Charles Steger and Ted Wooten; a sister-in-law, Jan Baker; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Carl, Andy and John.  He was predeceased by his father, Carl H. Davis; mother, Francis Thompson; father-in-law, Ralph Long; mother-in-law, Fern Woods Long; sisters, June Steger and Mary Wooten; brothers-in-law, Bruce Webb, David Baker, Ronald Kellough and Rudy Long; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sheila (Long) and John Sturgell. 

     John graduated from Wellston High School in 1973 and had served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.  He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber and then at the Atomic Plant for 30 years.  John was an outdoorsman who liked to hunt, especially morel mushrooms.  In addition, he also liked to hike and to collect Native American Artifacts.  John loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed to travel, especially to Key West, FL.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  John was a member of the VFW and AMVETS and held strong to his morals and values.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

     A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
