Evelyn L Stewart

Evelyn L. Stewart, 80, of Chillicothe, passed 5:35 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness.

     She was born March 26, 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Floyd and Bessie A. Hertenstein Cox.  On August 29, 1970, she married James W. Stewart, Sr. who passed December 14, 2010. 

     Surviving are a daughter, Shawana (John) Cox Boltenhouse, of Chillicothe; son, James W (Monica) Stewart, Jr., of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Alexandrea Stewart, Keagan Stewart and Addyson Stewart, all of Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Helen Cassel, of Chillicothe.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.

     Eb had attended Jefferson Avenue CCCU as a child and later in life attended Agape Worship Center in Waverly.  She retired from the US Shoe Corporation and as a Crossing Guard for the Chillicothe Police Department.  Eb had also worked at The White Laundry and in the daycares as a cook for the YMCA and The Salvation Army.  She enjoyed camping at the Ross County Fair with her family and watching her grandchildren show their dairy goats.

       The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Rose of the Adena Cancer Center and the staff of Adena Hospice.

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Clendaniel officiating.  Burial will follow in Londonderry Friends Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
