Flora Ellen Howard

     Flora Ellen Howard, 88, of Chillicothe died 6:20 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the National Church Residence.

     She was born April 20, 1934 in Letcher County, Kentucky to Conrad “Coonie” and Maggie McCray Dempsey.  On April 2, 1949 she married Orville Howard who preceded her death on February 5, 2018.

     Also surviving are daughter, Viveca (Kevin) Wallingford Hickman of Richmondale; grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Wallingford, twin granddaughters, Christa Wallingford and Cory (Rick) Pomeroy; great grandchildren, Tobias and Jaxon Wallingford, Riley Pomeroy and Cherokee Harris; brothers, Robert E. (Margaret) Dempsey of Chillicothe; sisters, Mary (Marvin) Lieby of Marion and Martha (Benny) Osborn of Daven, W.V.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by, 3 infant children; mother, Maggie Dempsey; father and step-mother, Conrad “Coonie” and Bertha Dempsey; sister, Bertha Brickles; brothers, James, Luther and Enoch Dempsey.

     Flora attended Richmondale Church of God where she was a very active member in the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed serving the Lord.  She was a member of the Jefferson Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Richmondale Church of God with Pastor John Evans, Jr. and Pastor John Evans, Sr. officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.  Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery.  Friends and family may from 11 – 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
