Fred Eugene Yingling, Sr. Obituary

     Fred Eugene Yingling, Sr., 88, of Chillicothe, passed at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.

     He was born August 14, 1935, in Hanover, PA, to the late Ralph E. Sr. and Beatrice Olivia Stanley Yingling. 

     Surviving are sons, Freddie (Jordance) Yingling, of New Albany and David Yingling, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Sara Yingling, of Richmond Dale; and grandchildren, Dalton Thurston, Nadia Yingling, Sophia Yingling, Lucca Yingling, Laneah Yingling and Landon Yingling.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ralph E. Yingling, Jr.

     Fred was a 1954 graduate of Centralia High School and was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean War.  In 1999, Fred retired from Chilpaco where he had worked for many years.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, its Men’s Brotherhood and the Emmaus Community.  Fred was a 32 Degree Mason and was a member of the Alladin Temple Shrine of Columbus, the Scottish Rite and the Ross County Shrine Club.  He was also a Kentucky Colonel.  Fred was an avid supporter of Scioto Valley Youth League Baseball and American Legion Baseball.  He donated countless hours to both organizations.  Fred was an avid Penn State Fan, loved being outdoors, especially hunting, and watching NASCAR. 

     Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, with Dr. Stephen Ford officiating, in the WARE FUNERAL HOME where a Masonic Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. prior to the start of calling hours.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.   

     The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of NCR hospice for the wonderful care given to our dad and compassion shown to our family during his illness.
