Gary Lee Elkin

     Gary Lee Elkin, 81, of Chillicothe, died Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. 

     Gary was born August 27, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Francis (Blankenship) Elkin.   On June 7, 1959, he married Sandra Shade Elkin who preceded him in death on March 15, 2014.  

     He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Dawn L. (William) George, of Grove City, OH, son Todd A. Elkin, Chillicothe, daughter-in-law Jodi Elkin, Chillicothe; grandchildren:  William Jr. (Natalie) George, Julie George, Joseph (Elizabeth) Knapp, Jacob (Lauren) Knapp, Dalton Elkin, Morgan Hensley, Kelsey Elkin, MaKenna Elkin and eight great-grandchildren. 

     Gary was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott P. Elkin, brothers Thomas Elkin and Terry McCloskey, and sister Sharon Sue Elkin. 

     Gary was a graduate of Germantown High School, the University of Dayton, and Eastern Kentucky University.  He served in the United States Navy, was a police officer, and later taught Law Enforcement at Ohio University.  He was a founding member of the Scioto Valley Real Estate Association and mentored many new to real estate investing. 

     Gary was a consummate teacher who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and stories with others.  His greatest joy was talking with friends and reveling in the energy of his grandchildren/great-grandchildren. 

     Gary’s wish was to be cremated following his death.  A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at Ware Funeral Home from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 20th, 2022.
