George Gillespie, 61, of Frankfort, died 9:25 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born August 16, 1960, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Gene and Shirley Hanes Gillespie. On August 11, 1989, he married the former Kathy Jo Barnhart who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Robert Kearney, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Reisinger, of Chillicothe; a son, Jack (Shelley) Schmitt, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jordan Skinner, Jaimi Justice, Micah Reisinger, Jacob Schmitt, Clay Schmitt and Lainey Schmitt; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Chris (Kathy) Gillespie, of Chillicothe and Bobby (Tracy) Kearney, of Waverly; 4 nieces; a nephew; and 5 aunts whom he loved dearly with special affections for Jeanie Miller. He was predeceased by his father, Gene Gillespie.
George was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He attended Open Door Ministries and had worked for Fed Ex. George’s favorite pastime was canoeing on the river, camping, fishing and wood working. He was ready to meet Jesus. George wanted to trade his earthly garment for his white robe.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Minister Mike Reisinger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, in Frankfort, Ohio, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
