George O. Karamalakis, 90, of Chillicothe, passed on May 13, 2026 at the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born September 17, 1935, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late George E. and Johanna Gray Karamalakis.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Norman; a son, Terry Karamalakis; a granddaughter; a great grandson; a sister, Rebecca (Lawrence) Zonner; several nieces and nephews; and the children of his late companion, Patricia O’Dell, Greg (Darcy) Counts, Jeff (Vilma) Counts and Sandy (Denver) Kennison and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and companion, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul E. Karamalakis; a sister, Mary Lou Speakman; and a grandson.
George was a 1954 graduate of Unioto High School where he enjoyed playing basketball for the Shermans. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. In 2000, he retired from DuPont, where he had worked for 41 years, retiring as an R&D Technician. George was a member of Tyler Memorial United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2026 in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Adena Hospice Chaplain, Dr. Christopher Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
