George Ellsworth Carey Obituary

     George Ellsworth Carey, 68, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2021 unexpectedly.

     He was born March 20, 1953, in Pickaway County, to the late Charles and Martha Jester Carey. 

     Surviving are children, Matheresa Showalter, of Clarksburg, George (Darlene) Carey, Jr., of Athens, James Carey, of Athens and Anthony (Amanda) Carey, of Bloomingburg; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Leoma (Dwight) Johnson, of Chillicothe and Grace (Peter) Scott, of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews including a special niece whom helped care for him, Nicole Warner, of Chillicothe; and his faithful K9 companion, his dog, “Hot Dog”.  He was predeceased by his former wife, Ruth Showalter and brothers, Chuck Carey, Nick Kelly and Dorsey Montgomery.

     George worked for several people over the years and especially enjoyed carpentry and farming.

     A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2021 in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery with Bruce Pauley officiating.  There will be no public calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME. 

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ware Funeral Home to help the family with his funeral expenses.
