Gerrie Ward

    Gerrie Ward, 73, of Chillicothe, died 3:55 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

     She was born September 10, 1947 in Chillicothe to Russell and Lona Lott Griffie. On August 27, 1966 she married Leonard L. Ward who died August 14, 2003.

     Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Len and Melissa Lynn Ward, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Megan (Elijah) Ward, Ashley Ward and Eli Ward; great-grandchildren, Lynnley and Jaxon; sisters, Mary (George) Branscom, Vickie Cottrill, Tina Abbot and Candy Rupert; brothers, Phillip (Roberta) Griffie, Wilbur (Chess) Griffie, Eddie (Diane) Griffie, Walter “Jr.” Griffie and Paul (Carolyn) Dickerson; her dog, Sophie and her cat, Fred; she was loved by in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father and stepmother, Russell and Shirley Griffie; mother, Lona Griffie; sisters, Sandy Huffman, Patty Eblin, Joyce Bland and Wanda Taylor.

     Gerrie retired from the Mead Corporation. She was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731 and volunteered as a senior home companion for several years.

     Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Brett Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Huntington Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 12 noon to time of service on Saturday. Mask will be required and casual dress is preferred.
