Glenn D. "Shorty" Snyder Obituary

     Glenn D. Snyder, 92, of Chillicothe, was reunited in Heaven with his bride of 72 years, Marian, at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. 

     He was born June 22, 1933, in Chillicothe, to the late Willie S. and Emma L. Seymour Snyder.  On March 16, 1952, he married the former Marian R. Richter who passed January 29, 2025. 

     Surviving are sons, Donald (Donna) Snyder, of Chillicothe and Lee (Angie) Snyder, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Jason Snyder, Jeff (Zoe) Snyder, Kristin (Seth) Dawes, Kellcie Snyder, Brittney (Jake) Garringer and Brooke (Taylor) Tackett; great grandchildren, Emily Snyder, Ethan Snyder, Calli Jo Tackett, Bo Lee Garringer, Camden Dawes, Lainey Dawes, Emma “Lil Tornado” Tackett, Lilah Dawes and Allie Mick Garringer; brothers, Bob Snyder, of Waverly, Tom (Linda) Snyder, of Kingston and Ronnie (Ruth) Snyder, of Circleville; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including special friends, The Strausbaugh family, Pat Allen and Guy McCorkle.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Glenn Snyder and siblings, Nellie Oyer, George Snyder, Bill Snyder, JoAnn Cryder, Whitey Snyder, Herman Snyder and David Snyder.

     Glenn was a member of Charleston Church of the Brethren.  “Whip” retired from Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric where he had worked for over 40 years.  Shorty touched many lives while coaching Little League, VFW and American Legion baseball.  He volunteered to maintain all of the lighting at Southeastern High School’s football field.  Glenn also worked as an Electrician at the Ross County Fairgrounds for 52 years.  He was an avid mushroom hunter and avid fan of Southeastern High School, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.  Shorty is fondly remembered for the family swimming pool, constructed by his brothers, and the many parties at the Ponderosa.

     Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor  Aaron Hines officiating.  To honor Shorty, feel free to wear your favorite sports team’s apparel.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
