Howard R. Whitten, 87, of Chillicothe, died 5:24 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born February 9, 1934, in Yellowbud, Ohio, to the late Howard M. “Cap” and Gladys Lauerman Whitten. On June 21, 1955, he married the former Gwen Egan who survives.
Also surviving are children, Jeff (Jennie) Whitten, Theresa (Mark) Fawley, Tonya (Tim) Bell, all of Chillicothe and Brenda (Lloyd) Free, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Sawyer, Savannah, Taylour, Tami, Justin, Chad, Devon, Stephanie, Kristina, Travis, Dylan and Cale; numerous great grandchildren; a brother, William Whitten, of Dallas, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Michael Egan, of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Whitten; brothers, David and Dwight Whitten; and sisters, Agnes Riley, Anne Whitten, Jane Whitten, Lois List and Janis Jordan.
Howard retired from the Mead Corporation after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
