James M Bowers, Sr.

     James Muhrel Bowers, Sr., 89 of Chillicothe, passed on July 28, 2025 at his residence.

     He was born April 10, 1936 in Ross County, to the late Muhrel and Daisy Beekman Bowers. On January 13, 1958, he married the former Phyllis J. Drais who survives, of Chillicothe.

     James is survived by his sister Mary Bowers Brown; children, Terri Bowers, James M. (Darla) Bowers Jr., John E. (Carolyn) Bowers, Michael A. (Jill) Bowers, Bobbi Groves, Melinda L. (Randy) Cochran, all of Chillicothe. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Muhrel and Daisy Bowers; sister F. Irene Bowers; brother Robert E. Bowers, an infant brother John Bowers; and brother-in-law John Brown.

     James retired from the Mead Paper Corp. in 1998. He attended Massieville Household Of Faith.

     Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend Leonard Roop officiating. Burial will follow at the Bowers Family Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2nd, 2025.
