James Cook Obituary

Pastor Jim Cook of Chillicothe left this earth and entered into his eternal home on Sunday November 21, 2021 at Adena Medical Center surrounded by friends and family. He married Sharon (Skaggs) Cook April 9, 1971.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Leon and Margene Cook, and sister Gloria “Sis” Carson.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Cook; children Jeremy Cook, Jimmy Cook, Ali Porter, Christopher “CJ” Cook, Heaven Cook, and Breea Cook all of Chillicothe; grandchildren Brianna, Brady, Alyson, Emberli, Grace, Tasha, Nick, Marie, and Salem; great-grandchildren Jaxon, Benson, Liam, Lianna, Bexleigh, Ava, Maria, Ashur, Atty, Declia, and Betty; brothers Dan (Carolyn) Cook, Buddy Cook, and sister Debbie Finnegan; and many nieces and nephews who he was very close with and loved as his own.

Jim and Sharon raised not only their own children, but took in multiple others over the years. Every kid was always welcome in their home! They were foster parents for 10 years and were able to be a safe haven for many children over that time, many of which they still claim as part of our family.

Jim was a CCCU pastor for over 30 years, most recently at Bonds Chapel; served alongside Transparent Ministries and Common Cause Band; and him and Sharon were coordinators at Nipgen Church Camp for 15 years. He retired from ODOT, but many know him best as a bus driver then transportation supervisor at Huntington Local Schools for over 20 years.

Jim never met a stranger, and had a second home at Crispie Creme where he spent many days making memories and lifelong friendships. No matter what he did, he always shared his passion for Christ, and let others know Christ’s love for them. He was strong in his faith, and his relationship with Christ was seen by all.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of WARE FUNERAL HOME.
