James H. Stroud

James H. Stroud, 88, of Chillicothe passed away peacefully 10:02 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Copper Knoll Health and Rehabilitation Center.

     He was born March 13, 1937 in Dunlow, West Virginia to the late Allen and Brookie Almeda (Parsley) Stroud.  On July 26, 1956 he married Betty J. (Little) Stroud who survives.

     Also surviving are daughters, Deborah (Steve) Birchum, of Springfield and Almeda (Amy) (Robert) Metcalf, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Tina, Jason, Jamie, Jessica and Rachel; 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren and two expected soon.  He was predeceased by brothers, Wayne and Orville Stroud; sisters, Genevieve Wallace, Laura Wallace, Eva Smith, Olive Maynard, Edna May Mills, Elizabeth Marcum and Marie Dillon.

     James and Betty shared a true love story of 68 wonderful years together.  He was a very caring husband, amazing father, joyful grandpa and a treasured great-grandfather.  He enjoyed watching football with a Pepsi and Milky Way in hand.  He will always be remembered as a kind hearted man who will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

     Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.
