James E. "Jim" Buckner, Sr.

     James E. Buckner, Sr., 79, of Chillicothe, passed, while surrounded by his loving family, at 8:28 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.

     He was born October 29, 1945, in Ross County, Ohio, to the late Amos and Lillie Stevens Buckner.  On April 4, 1964, he married the former Shirley Magill who passed January 11, 2015. 

     Surviving are a son, James E. (Joy Ream) Buckner, Jr.; daughters, Penny (Tracy) Johnson, Sandra (Eric) Kellough and Jennifer (Alan) Oaks, all of Chillicothe; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. 

     Jim worked construction his entire life and was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1626. 

     A graveside service will be held at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Greenlawn Cemetery in Chillicothe with Pastor Mitchell Salyers officiating.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the graveside service on Wednesday.
