James "Jim" Valentine Obituary

James “Jim” Israel Valentine, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away at Adena Regional Hospital on December 8, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on January 16, 1948 in Circleville, Ohio. James was the son of the late James Valentine II and Elizabeth (Fisher) Valentine. Surviving are wife/lifelong companion Ronda Valentine, son Christopher Valentine of Westerville, stepson Scott (Angie) Laughhunn of New Lexington, daughter Kandice (David) Trainer of Chillicothe, and grandchildren Rainbow, Thomas, and Morgan. Also, surviving are two brothers Larry (Barbara) Valentine of Lockbourne and Brian Valentine of Ashville.
James graduated from Teays Valley High School and studied agriculture engineering at The Ohio State University. He served in the National Guard for many years. To try to sum up where he worked most of his life would be difficult. He worked many jobs over the years and had many different credentials from farming, truck driving, welding, electrician, plumbing, HVAC, etc. If you name it, he probably, did it. However, the one greatest passion in his life was agriculture. James will forever be remembered for his values of learning and that the job was never done. There was always something to do and he never let his health stop him from doing what he wanted. He was a man of many words. He would talk to anyone that would listen. He was a United Methodist Church Lay Speaker for the Bluebird Parish for many years. Spreading his love and generosity for His Lord and Savior. The odds of his health were never in his favor for 30+ years if you were to ask health professionals, but his faith stayed strong, and his Savior brought him through every single battle and he kept going and never complained. However, the Lord said that his job was done here on earth and that it is finally time to rest and let others finish the job.
Per James’ wishes there will not be a viewing or funeral service. However, the family is planning a celebration of life for this following spring and he will be buried in Springbank Cemetery in Ross County.
