Jeffery L. Smith, 64, of Chillicothe, passed at 4:14 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Hospice of Central Ohio at the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 18, 1959, in Chillicothe, to the late Chester and Marjorie Betts Smith. On May 27, 1978, he married the former Susan McMahon who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Josh (Amanda) Smith and Zach Smith, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Cannan Smith, Cael Smith and Cambree Smith; brothers, Chester Smith, of Chillicothe and Ernest Smith, of Jackson; sisters, Nancy Decker, of Chillicothe, Bonnie Smith, of Chillicothe, Chestine Walk, of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Rusty Archer, of Chillicothe; and his faithful companions, his dogs, Daisey Mae and Leo. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Becky Guysinger and Rose Silcott.
Jeff retired from the Mead where he had worked for 36 years. He was a member and past Vice President of U.S.W. Local 731. Jeff enjoyed playing poker with his family and special friends every weekend. He was a dedicated husband, dad and grandpa smoke. Jeff will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held for family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
