Jeffrey Smith Obituary

Jeffrey A. Smith, 60 of Ross County, passed Monday, July 29, 2024 unexpectedly at Adena Regional Medical Center.

     He was born February 25, 1964 in Chillicothe to Jerald A. and Karen L. Cox Smith.  On April 7, 1984 he was united in marriage to Nicole R. Speakman who survives.

     In addition to his father, Jerald A. Smith, of Clarksburg and his mother, Karen Holdren, of Chillicothe, he is survived by his children, Leslie Paige (Ben) Dailey, of Waverly and Jeffrey Charles (Courtenie) Smith, of Kingston; grandchildren, Mitchell Arledge, Carson Johnson, Mady Johnson, Adrienne Smith, Aubrie Smith, Cameron Smith, Gavin Dailey and Landon Dailey; brothers, Donnie (Kelly) Smith, of Londonderry, Gary (Andrea) Smith, of Chillicothe and Danny Lee (Chanda) Holdren, of Chillicothe; sister, Cheryl (Doug) Lowe, Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by step-father, Danny Holdren; step-mother, Louise Smith; grandparents, Harry and Opal Smith and Ima and Ralph Cox.

     Jeff served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.  He proudly served his country during the War on Terror as a response to the 9/11 attack.  Jeff was employed by Pixelle in the maintenance department.  He was a past union president of United Steel Workers Local 731.  Jeff was a devoted member of Real Joy Community Fellowship where he was a deacon and on the security team.

     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Real Joy Community Church with Pastor Tony Lambert officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Waverly Pike County Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held at Real Joy Community Church from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
