Jerry Fairchild Obituary

Jerry Newton Fairchild, age 81, of Richmond Dale, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 11:41 at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 29,2025.

He was born on April 3, 1944 in Ross County to the late James Carrol and Gladys Marie (Hatfield) Fairchild. On November 9, 1968 he married his loving wife, Georganna Kay Swaney, who survives him.

Jerry is also survived by his son, Jeffery Todd Fairchild of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Jera Kristine (Eric) Ellis and Julie Ann Fairchild, both of Cleveland, Tennessee; granddaughters Taylor Ann (Clay) Sneed and Sydney Grace Ellis, both of Cleveland Tennessee; twin brother, Garry Wesley Fairchild of Richmond Dale; sisters, Ruth Cole of Florida and Carolyn (Neil) Swepston of Chillicothe; brothers-in-law, Joe Detty of Londonderry and Wade Skeens of Chillicothe; sister-in-law, Donna Fairchild of Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Genevieve Fairchild; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Ernie Brewer; sister, Fern Detty; brother, James “Sank” Fairchild; brother-in-law, Ronald Cole; sisters-in-law, Barbara Fairchild and Carol Skeens.; infant sister Shirley Irene.

Jerry honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a faithful member of the Richmond Dale Church of God. Jerry worked at Chilpaco and retired from Glatfelter after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the United Paper Workers’ International Union Local 988. A passionate golfer, he enjoyed playing the game with his family, church family, and friends. He also served as co-director of the Mission Family Ministries Food and Clothing Pantry in Richmond Dale for 10 years. Jerry loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was an avid Ohio State football fan.

We would like to thank National Church Residency Home Health, Hospice groups, and Home Helpers for going above and beyond with their care. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nurse Geneva for her exceptional care, kindness, and compassion throughout Jerry’s journey. We would also like to thank Home Helpers, Robin and Ashley.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Richmond Dale Church of God with military rites given by the Ross County Veterans Honer Guard followed by Pastor John Evans II and Pastor John Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
