John Warren Allen

John Allen Obituary

     John Warren Allen, 78, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 7:08 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

     He was born November 8, 1942, in Ross County, to the late Marion and Geraldine Cox Allen.  On November 2, 1968, he married the former Nancy Uhrig who survives.

     Also surviving are children, Joy McAbee, Jeff (Angie) Allen, Matt (Cindy) Allen, and Justin (Ashley) Allen, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kristen, Adam, Crystal, Erica, Jeffrey, Erika, Jordan, Emily, Addison, and Jackson; 10 great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Kate Caplinger, of Chillicothe; father-in-law, James Uhrig, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sue and Lonnie Horsley, Jim and Kathy Uhrig, and Pam Allen; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Sonny Allen and Randy Allen; sisters, Louise Arledge, Patty Allen, Jean Allen, Sherry Harper; and mother-in-law, Julia Uhrig.

     John served in the United States Army National Guard for 6 years.  He was a member of ABC Church.  John retired from the Mead following 26 years of service, was a member of U.S.W Local 731 where he had held numerous offices, and later went on to work for P.A.C.E. / United Steel Workers International Union for 18 years.  He had served as President and was a coach for the Scioto Valley Youth League Baseball Association and was a past President for ZT Athletic Boosters.  John was an avid bowler and served as the President of the Local Bowling Association.

     A private graveside service with Pastor B. Jay Dailey officiating will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery.  There will be no public calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
