John Warren Barnes

   John Warren Barnes, age 91 departed this life on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

   He was born on June 7, 1933 in Ross County, Ohio. He and his sister, Joanne Poole, who preceded him in death, were raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Henry and Mamie Jones.

   After graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1951, He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist church and married his wife, Connie Gates, there on March 6, 1955 who preceded him January 12, 2024.

   He was employed by Mead Corporation for forty years, where he retired from in 1996. He had two sons. John Michael and Mark Alan Barnes, both of Chillicothe.

   John along with his wife, Connie, co-founded the National Vintage Motor Bike Club in 1972.

   At his request, there will be no viewing hours. There will be a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Chillicothe. The service will be 1 pm Saturday, June 7, 2025 with Pastor Aaron Hines presiding.  Preparations for a meal following the service are being planned.  If you plan to join the family at the meal, please RSVP by calling the Ware Funeral Home.
