He was born October 2, 1957, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late John F. and Patricia (Detty) Barnhart. On June 6, 1981, he married Crystal (Steinbrook) Barnhart who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Erica (Andrew) Ellis, of Kingston; grandchildren, James and Eva Ellis; a sister, Connie (Richard) Chester, of Kingston; brother-in-law, David (Kay) Steinbrook, of Michigan; his in-laws, Ronald and Janet Steinbrook, of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews, Summer (Adam) Rose, Ryan (Tanner) Lemaster, Rachel Lemaster, Vanessa Steinbrook, Andrew (Heather) Steinbrook, Ellen Steinbrook and Matthew Steinbrook; and family friends, Mike and Denise Fink. John was a 1975 graduate of Zane Trace High School. He was employed at Wearever and then Kenworth where he retired in 2015. He was an avid mushroom, deer and turkey hunter, enjoyed collecting arrowheads and making his “famous” Johnny B’s Relish. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family and being “Pappy” to his two grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
The family wants to thank the staffs at Adena Cancer Center and Adena Hospice for all they did for John.
