John S. Coppel, 67, of Columbus, died 10:29 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 in Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital, Columbus following an extended illness.
He was born September 23, 1953, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Lewis W. and Marilyn S. Coppel.
Surviving are his father, Lewis W. Coppel, of Gahanna; sons, Lewis Coppel, of Columbus and Scott Coppel, of Chicago; former wife and mother of his sons, Denise B. Coppel, of Cincinnati; brothers, Lewis W. “Will” (Susan) Coppel, Jr., of Westerville and Paul (Lori) Coppel, of Gahanna; a sister, Beth (Gary) Germann, of Valparaiso, IN; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and special friend, Chris Callen. He was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn S. Coppel.
John was a Certified Public Accountant and was a founding board member of the Callen Foundation which helps Ohio military families with emergency financial assistance through the Ohio National Guard Family Assistance Centers.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Dr. Jason T. Link officiating. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to the service on Friday.
