Jon Mitchell “Mitch” Yoakem, 62, of Chillicothe, passed at 12:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born March 8, 1963, in Greenfield, Ohio, to the late Jon Melvin and Cheryl D Mays Yoakem. On September 16, 2006, he married the former Mary Anne Serencses who survives.
Also surviving are children, Jon Mitchell Wesley Yoakem, Richard Sherman Mitchell Yoakem and Lacey Mikala Yoakem; 6 grandchildren including Dulci Dawn Yoakem; a brother, Eric Andrew “Ric” Yoakem; a sister, Vonda Yoakem Trainer; nephews, Blake Andrew Trainer and Eric Cole Trainer; a great niece, Willow Cheryl Trainer; and a special aunt, Teri Swift.
Mitch was a member of Open Door Church where he had served as an Usher. He retired from Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Ft. Myers, FL and had also worked at Lowes Distribution in Washington C.H and had delivered pizzas. Mitch enjoyed growing plants, gardening, fishing and hunting arrow heads. Above all, he loved his family and provided for their every need. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Lake White Shelter House. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
