Judith Kay Groves Obituary

Judith Kay (Stafford) Groves, 80, of Chillicothe, passed at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Chillicothe Post Acute following a brief illness.

She was born March 6, 1945, in Cynthiana, Ohio, to the late Ray G. and Emma F. (Taylor) Stafford.

Surviving are her children, Frank K. Groves, of Chillicothe, Angela S. (Jeffrey) Sword, of Washington C.H., Cynthia D. Groves, of Chillicothe and Kevin M. Groves, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Haley (Sebastian) Restrepo, of Greenwich, CT, Sarah Ashton (Blake Skaggs) Groves, of Peebles, OH, and Brandon (Haley) Turley, of Chillicothe, OH; great grandchildren, William Restrepo, Sophie Skaggs, Bella Skaggs, Lydia Skaggs, and Benjamin Turley; a brother, Thomas M. (Cathy) Stafford, of Chillicothe; and a brother-in-law, Hollin Lee Music Jr., of Houston, TX.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, John Ray Stafford, Billy Curtis (Ruth) Stafford, Sarah Jane (Austin) Stafford Lowman, Bruce Edward Stafford, Harold Eugene Stafford, Jerry Roger (Beth) Stafford, and Brenda Faye Music.

Judy was a 1964 graduate of Greenfield McClain High School.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  Judy was a longtime volunteer for Adena Regional Medical Center having well over 1200 hours of volunteer service and was a 32-year breast cancer survivor.  She, being a single mother, worked hard to raise her 4 children and they all agree that they could not have asked for a better mother.  Judy was patient, loving, giving, caring, and had a heart of Gold.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staffs of The Ohio State University’s James Cancer Hospital and at Chillicothe Post Acute, especially Shelly, Stacey, and Belinda, for the wonderful care given to Judy and compassion shown to our family during our mom’s illness over the past 5 months.

You may sign her online register at www.warefh.com
