Larry D. Kingery Obituary

     Larry D. Kingery, 76, of Chillicothe, died 2:13 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness. 

    He was born October 27, 1944, in Fayette County, Ohio, to the late Kenneth W. and Annie Slayton Kingery.  On December 20, 1974, he married the former Carolyn J. Dailey who died July 22, 2014.

     Surviving are children, David Cottrill, of Chillicothe, Nicol (Todd) Kellough, of Chillicothe, Brandy (Eric) Causey, of Jackson and Nicole (Rob) Davis, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Cory Jackson, Joshua (Whitney) Kellough, Justin (Hannah) Kellough and Jackie Kellough, Amber (David) Young, Brooke and Zach Haynes, Tyler, McKenzie and Lila Cory and Maggie Davis; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Paul Kingery, of Chillicothe, Darrell (Colleen) Kingery, of New York, Ronnie Kingery, of Chillicothe, Keith (Susie) Kingery, of Chillicothe, Kevin Kingery, of Bainbridge and Mark Kingery, of Chillicothe; sisters, Bonnie (David) Maughmer, of Chillicothe and Karen (Steve) Tatman, of Chillicothe; a brother-in-law, Leroy Chaney, of Florida; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kingery, of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Shawn Cottrill; a grandson, Elisha Cottrill; a granddaughter, Chelsey LeMaster; sisters, Alice Chaney and Libby Miller; brothers, Kenneth W. Jr., Carl Wayne and Neil Kingery; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Kingery and Penny Kingery; and a brother-in-law, Mike Miller. 

     Larry attended Bainbridge United Methodist Church.  He served in the United States Navy During the Vietnam War and retired from Kenworth Truck Company in 2007.  Larry was a member of the VFW Post 108.  He enjoyed watching the Buckeyes, fishing at Greenup dam and made many friends on the Ohio River.  He was named the King of the Dam by his son David because he would slay them stripers and would give to others that didn’t catch any.  He also loved to fry his fish.  Larry had close friend, Donnie and Margie Thompson, Kermit and Vickie King and his little dog Mocca, “Dads Boy”.

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with David Maughmer officiating.  Burial will be held in Twin Township Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
