Larry K Rayer Obituary

     Larry K. Rayer, 78, of Columbus, passed at 2:03 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 in Mt. Carmel East, Columbus following an extended illness.

     He was born October 25, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio, to the late Leland T. and Jancie Rose Runyon.  On July 30, 1969, he married the former Sytha Tomlinson who passed March 9, 2023.

     Surviving are daughters, Rebecca (Tracy) McCoy of Blacklick and Laura (Ryan) Hawkins of Holly Springs, N.C.; grandchildren, Isabel McCoy, and YeRin Hawkins; great grandson, Christian Hawkins; a sister, Kathy (Bob) Smith, of Circleville; and nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a grandson, Jacob Hawkins and a brother, Richard Rayer.

     Larry was a United States Navy Veteran.  He retired from Glatfelter, Chillicothe where he had worked as a turbine engineer.  He was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731, AMVETS Post 4 and Stoneybrook United Methodist Church in Gahanna.  Larry was a former, longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe.  He loved spending time with his family, going with them on vacations and supporting his grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Dr. Jason T. Link officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to his funeral service on Saturday.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Stonybrook United Methodist Church thru their website at stonybrook.church.  Please designate your contributions is in memory of Larry Rayer.
